I went to LPCS with Matt 3-5th grade. I was somewhat of an against the grain kid. Matt tormented me for the first year and after that we became friends. When I moved to Waldorf, I was able to come back and see my friends on occasion but not much. Ran into Matt several times. When I moved over seas with my mom (who is in the Navy) I lost touch with him unfortunately. My cousin was friends with him also and told me about him recently. My heart dropped and my prayers are with yous guys, and as always with my friends who took that step forward to serve our country, who are still there and those who have lost their lives.

I read your touching story on line and cried. I am sorry for your loss, and greatful for your son's sacrifice. I wll look for this book to be finished. in the M.O.M.S (Mother's of Military Service Members) group that I belong toâ??several of the women have lost their sons or husbands. I am the mother of 4 sons, 2 of whom were United States Marines and when the war started in Iraq, they both went. My older son served 2 tours. They finally returned home to me, which I thank God every day for, but they didn't return home whole. They left part of themselves back in Iraq. Both have PTSD, the youngest was medically discharged. He has what the VA classifies as an Agent Orange case. He was exposed to a chemical of some some kind and his body is deteriorating. He is 23 years old and he has vascular disease, skeletal disease, his liver readings are off, high blood pressure, cartilage in his knees is all but gone, he is in a lot of pain and suffers a life threatening allergy to the cold. He literally can't breathe if he gets cold. So, although I in no way know the depth of your lossâ??I know deep loss, non-the-less, I want my sons back, my healthy-whole sons. I am so afraid of what the future holds for him, they don't know how to treat it.

Thank you for answering your Calling with this site Holly. Having survived the tragedy of viet nam, I honor you. I was blessed with returning home as a wounded Marine in a different time and place. I've not lost any family to this 'war' but have felt loss at work of others. Your site and Calling will help others I feel. May you and all who share this site have Peace, Love and Happiness. Michael
